SHOW NOTES:
There have been Startup BizCast episodes about how to distribute online news releases for your small business, and how to work toward getting television news coverage, but we’ve not discussed how to actually write a small business news release. This week I’m rectifying that problem!
In episode 13, I go solo (i.e. with no interview) for a show all about news releases. It’s broken into five chapters:
1) What is a news release?
2) The structure of a news release
3) How to get started writing
4) “Dos and Don’ts”
5) Social media news release elements

Another great episode of Startup BizCast, the small business advice podcast that’s shorter than your coffee break, is in production! I had an interview lined up, but at the last minute was forced to reschedule, so I decided to talk about something I’ve planned to do an episode about for a while — news releases. I’ve done episodes on how to distribute them, so it’s only proper that I give some tips on how to write them! In episode 13, which should publish tomorrow morning, I’ll go over (among other things) the structure of a news release, how to get started writing one, and some “dos and don’ts”.
